Sunshine Coast book publisher Harbour Pub-lishing was recognized for publishing the best 2010 book in terms of public appeal, initiative, design, production and content at the 27th Annual Lieutenant Governor's Gala in West Vancouver on April 21.

The press won the Bill Duthie Booksellers' Choice Award for Adventures in Solitude: What Not to Wear to a Nude Potluck and Other Stories from Desolation Sound by CBC Radio host and author Grant Lawrence. This funny, insightful memoir, which has become a national bestseller since it was published last fall, was also nominated for the Roderick Haig-Brown Regional Prize. It faced stiff competition from Harbour Publishing's Fishing with Gubby, by Sunshine Coast authors Gary Kent and Kim La Fave, which was also short-listed for the Booksellers' Choice Award.

To be eligible to win the Bill Duthie Booksellers' Choice Award, the publisher must have its head office in B.C. or the Yukon. The winner is determined by voting members of the B.C. Booksellers Association.

The BC Book Prizes, established in 1985, celebrate the achievements of British Columbia writers and publishers, awarding eight different awards with a total prize value of $19,000 each year.
