Young artists between the ages of five and 18 are invited to submit three works of art that have been created outside of school. Download the entry form from www.sunshinecoastartscouncil.com, ask for a copy at your school office, or pick one up from the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre. The deadline for entries is Friday, Nov. 20, 3 p.m. at the Arts Centre, 5714 Medusa St., Sechelt.
New this year – works on paper can be submitted without a frame as long as they are mounted on a larger piece of paper or behind a paper matte. If your artwork is on paper, take advantage of the free matting workshop offered this year at the Art Studio in the Arts Centre, Saturday, Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Deadline for these entries has been extended to 1 p.m. on Nov. 21.
All entries will be exhibited in the Doris Crowston Gallery in the Arts Centre from Dec. 2 to 19. A jury of professional artists will be judging the young artists’ works and awards will be handed out on the final day of the exhibition, Saturday, Dec. 19. Awards are made possible by the kind support of the Sechelt Rotary, Gibsons School of the Arts, and Opus Framing and Art Supplies.
