Black Cat Productions and the Gumboot Cafe Bakery present the Black Cat Cafe, a Thursday evening film and discussion series.

What if the things you were taught don't make sense anymore? And speaking the truth meant losing your community? And following your heart meant doing the impossible? At a time when the public is more concerned than ever about the health and environmental problems associated with large-scale factory farming, Peaceable Kingdom explores another angle of this unfolding story: the interconnected life journeys of farm animals, former farmers and animal rescuers struggling against an out-of-control industrial system.

Breaking generations of silence in the farm community, Peaceable Kingdom weaves together themes of respect, forgiveness, commitment and healing, offering a vision of a more peaceful world that is well within our reach.

Jane Goodall said, "Peaceable Kingdom is a masterpiece."

The film will be followed by discussion hosted by former animal rights activist and Black Cat producer David Barbarash.

The screening takes place Thursday Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Gumboot Cafe in Roberts Creek. Admission is $5. For more information, call 604-886-2780 or email blackcat@resist.ca.
