Prepare to be amazed next week at the Gibsons Heritage Playhouse.
Internationally acclaimed illusionist Vitaly Beckman presents Sensation of Magic with two shows on June 3 and 4.
Through the arts and crafts of illusion, Beckman creates a performance brimming with bewilderment and wonder; he performs jaw-dropping, mind-bending magic. Sensation of Magic has been a sell-out in Vancouver theatres, leaving audience members stunned, shaking their heads, unable to comprehend the impossible feats Beckman is able to execute.
In Sensation of Magic, Beckman takes great pride in the fact that every illusion in the show is an "impossible dream" to accomplish. They include "Super Vision," where he demonstrates his ability by reading from borrowed newspapers - from a distance of up to 16 metres, Beckman can make people disappear from ordinary photographs and appear on another. He also demonstrates object levitation and a paintbrush that paints by itself. He escapes from chains using only mind power, and makes a rose drawing turn into the real thing - a concrete example of his belief that dreams can become reality.
"The show is not just magic," Beckman said. "It's about the realization of our dreams and the celebration of the human spirit. With the belief that we are limited only by our own imagination, the audience gets to experience the sensation that nothing is impossible and that they can realize their dreams or experience the sensation of how would life be if there were no limitations."
Beckman, who is an accomplished stage illusionist, has performed internationally in theatres, at corporate and charity events and on TV and radio. Born in Belarus, he grew up in the Middle East, where he began practising magic at the age of 15. He has lived in Vancouver since 2008.
Sensation of Magic runs nightly at 8 p.m. on both Friday June 3 and Saturday, June 4.
Tickets are $25 (at the door) and $20 (advance) available at www.sensationofmagic.com or at Laedeli (formerly Hallmark Cards) in Gibsons.
