An afternoon of classical music

Egorov studied at the Moscow State Conservatory with Tatjana Nikolaeva and Vera Gornostaeva. He is now professor of the department of special piano at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg.

When not teaching, he tours extensively in Russia and abroad, conducting master classes and judging international piano competitions. He has recorded more than 50 programs of solo, chamber and orchestra performances, including music by Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schumann and many others.

Adding to his many honours, it has just been announced that Egorov has been awarded the highest artistic rank in Russia: the People's Artist of the Russian Federation.

His program in Pender Harbour will feature Beethoven's Sonata in A major, César Franck's Prélude, Fugue & Variation, Op. 18 (Transcription by Pavel Egorov), theThree Nocturnes, Op. 15 by Chopin and Glinka's Three Mazurkas.
