Payne will discuss space missions, spacecraft and ground systems design. Find out from an expert what it means to design a mission and look at various types of spacecraft orbits and their uses in earth observation, communications and scientific missions. Payne will show how these design principles influenced the design of the RADARSAT-2 mission, Canada's latest earth observation syntheticapertureradar space mission.

Payne works with Macdonald Dettwiler and Associates, the company responsible for the Canadarm 1 & 2, and the RADARSAT Earth Observation systems.

The presentation is open to the public. Seating is limited. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. in room 119 at Chatelech Secondary School. See www.coastastronomy.ca.
