Santa Claus is coming to the Creek, this Sunday, Dec. 8, at Roberts Creek Hall from 1 to 4 p.m.

You better watch out! Legion of Flying Monkeys plays the 219 this Saturday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. Dare to be entertained by this festive orchestra performing sing-along folk rock on homemade wooden horns, drums, bass, accordion and ukulele, with a strong emphasis on vocal harmonies. Yes, you will have an opportunity to sing along, no pressure. Warning, lyrics may contain blasphemy, anti-corporate sentiments and direct references to socialism, so best enjoyed by open-minded adults. Get there early enough for a brief video about the origins of the Legion of Flying Monkeys Corporation. Promises to be another unique night that makes our Lil’ Legion the best!

You better not cry. What has dinners, gigs, an annual membership drive (on now), hosts Brain Freeze Trivia the first Friday of the month and is the best place in Roberts Creek to meet old friends and make new ones? Answer at the end of this column.

You better not pout. Local poet Rosey Stavroff will be launching her collection of poems, Domestic Dragon, at Eco Freako in the Heart of the Creek this Sunday noon to 4 p.m. After travelling the world and pouring her heart and soul on the page, she wants to share it with you. Exposing the angst of her generation in a couple dozen rhymes, she touches on the darker side as a way of letting in the light.

I’m telling you why … Santa Claus is coming to the Creek! This Sunday, Dec. 8, everyone’s favourite jolly old elf will bring the joy of the season to Roberts Creek Hall from 1 to 4 p.m. The first half hour will be a quieter time, with dimmed lights for those with special needs, the last half hour is reserved for pics with pets, and in between are family photos, cookie decorating, wood ornament painting and story-time corner. Photos with Santa are $5 printed or digital, other activities by donation. A good time to share, with Food Bank donations being gathered as well. Good eats available at the kitchen from 1 to 4 p.m. courtesy of the chefs at Salt and Swine.

Ongoing, but only for a little while, is Roberts Creek Community Farm Market, local farm fresh greens and eggs, fresh baked breads, treats, flowers, honey, spirits, artisans, community and so much more. Maybe you should be making a list, maybe you should be checking it twice? Wednesday afternoons, 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Hall.

Maybe you want to tell me who’s naughty and nice. Email kellybacks@rocketmail.com by Monday noon.

We are coming into what for many is a very stressful time of year, full of memories, both positive and negative. It doesn’t matter if you have been good or bad, be good to yourself and those around you, for goodness sake! Everyone has a story to tell, and if you listen they may share it with you and you will both be better for the telling.

The little Roberts Creek Legion #219 is the answer, start this column over if you forgot what the question was.
