Pender Harbour Music Society concludes their 2024-2025 concert series with Cameron Crozman, cello, and Meagan Milatz, piano, on May 25.

Tomorrow Saturday, May 24, 3 to 5 p.m. at the Sechelt Seaside Centre is the Sunshine Coast Trails Society (www.sctrails.ca) User Forum for all outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you are a hiker, biker, trail runner, equestrian, ATV rider, or simply enjoy spending time outdoors, this is a great opportunity to: discover new trails, connect with local recreation clubs, meet with like-minded people, discuss the future of trails and accessibility. Sunday, May 25, Pender Harbour Music Society presents Cameron Crozman, cello, and Meagan Milatz, piano. They are young Canadians, multi-award winners, sought-after soloists and chamber musicians! A warm welcome to the return of pianist Meagan Milatz (remember meagan & amy) and a wonderful musical opportunity to meet cellist Cameron Crozman. Meagan, who was chosen as one of CBC’s “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30” and Cameron, who was hailed as “Canada’s next big cello star,” have rocketed into the international sphere. This is a special concert to bring our series to a joyful conclusion. Not to be missed! 2 p.m. at the School of Music. Tickets online at the PHMS website $30.

The Pender Harbour Garden Club is pleased to host local gardener Leani Farquhar on Monday, May 26. She will be presenting, “From the ground Up, Fort Farquhar,” a gardener’s story about putting an exploratory spade into a lawn in 2008 and what has evolved over the past 17 years. Fruits, flowers and vegetables and fun. PHGC meetings are in the School of Music, from 1 to 3 p.m. $20 annual membership or $5 drop in. Includes coffee/tea and goodies.

Liz Long will be the speaker at the May 27 Women’s Connection. Liz spent more than 50 years stuck in Victimtown after her close family member Lynda White went missing when Liz was just six years old. Five years later, Lynda’s body was found, and her case remains one of Canada’s longest unsolved murders. Having discovered her own path to healing, including inpatient treatment at a recovery centre, Liz is now dedicated to mental health advocacy and inspiring others by sharing her story. She has authored a book, Navigating Shitstorms: How to Find Your True Path When Life Gets Rough. Doors open 9:30 a.m.  Starts at 10 a.m. $4 drop in at the School of Music.

Madeira Market returns Tuesday, May 27, 3 to 7 p.m. at the Hall –– always a social occasion. Come shop with your favourite vendors, Nadia and Malin of Picasso Loaf, Suntwist Farms, and yes, after five? years in hiding, lol, I will be there with dahlia tubers, and…  Eats West will be in the café kitchen. Mark will be offering his so delicious creations to dine in or take home, just in time for a sumptuous dinner. As an incredibly special musical treat, the Pender Harbour Choir will be performing! And speaking about the choir, Pender Harbour Choir Spring 2025 Concert “Beginning To See The Light” with Kenneth Norman Johnson, music director and Serah Strandberg, pianist, will have two performances: Saturday May 31, 7 p.m. at the School of Music and Sunday, June 1, 7 p.m. at St Hilda’s Anglican Church, Sechelt. Tickets $25 per person, available from choir members, EarthFair Store in Madeira Park and at the door.
