Pender Harbour-Egmont highlights: Bargain Barn presents its first Art Auction Event

FLAIR on the Coast this Saturday, March 8, 10 a.m. to noon at the Rockwood Centre in Sechelt welcomes guest presenter Stephanie Dolon who will be speaking  about PEMF, “pulsed electromagnetic field” therapy. With restoring our magnetic field, our bodies produce cellular regeneration, our immune system becomes healthier, the nervous system relaxes, bones and joints become stronger and there can be a reduction in pain. The first Art Auction Event, proudly presented by the Bargain Barn volunteers, is Sunday, March 9, 1 to 4 p.m. at the School of Music. Peruse (and purchase) from more than 100 works of art. The Pender Harbour Women’s Connection has an exciting change of format for their March 11 get together with a hands-on offering. The gathering will delve into the practice of primitive rug hooking. Guest speaker, Lory Reynolds, has devoted years developing the skills of this fine art. She will provide history and a demonstration, leading up to the hands-on workshop. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. at the School of Music. Presentations at 10 a.m. $4 drop-in fee. Refreshments provided.

Harbourside Friendships Thursday, March 13 at the Hall will have an update on the topic of “Who Cares,” 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch served at noon for $10.

The School of Music Coffee House, Friday, March 14, has two fantastic performances, Spindrift Street, the trio of Garth Bowen, Charley Veaudry and Randy Shepherd and solo artist  the talented, singer-songwriter from Earls Cove, Matt Richards. Doors open at 7 p.m. Music at 7:30 p.m. $10 suggested donation at the door.

Tickets for The Paperboys at the Pender Harbour Blues Society’s Spring Dance on March 15 at the Hall, available on at phblues.ca or at the EarthFair bookstore, $40.  

Piano Heist, A Day of Music for All Ages, Sunday, March 30, 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Lifelong friends and colleagues, Nico Rhodes and Patrick Courtin, deliver everything from classical to bombastic boogie, embracing all musical genres on two keyboards and a synthesizer. What ensues is a mishmash of theatre, comedy, audience participation, heartfelt stories, a pinch of history, and a world of musical madness. The 10:30 a.m. show is for the entire family. Tickets are $10 (children under age 12) and $15 (adults) on the phms website.

After 10 years at the helm, Karen Dyck is retiring from the Pender Harbour Reading Centre.
