The 19th annual community mandala project at the foot of the pier in Roberts Creek was completed last week with the help of about 600 people over four days.
This year’s theme is dragonflies; the overall design was created by artist Rob Marion. The mandala has 525 spaces that were painted by the public during the week of July 18, and on July 25 the completed work was celebrated at a Manna Festival where drumming, singing and dancing took place.
Next year will mark the 20th year of the public art project. One of the founders of the project, Erica Snowlake, said the mandala group is exploring creating a book with pictures of the mandalas over the years in recognition of the two-decade anniversary.
