Summertime and the reading is easy!

Gibsons and District Public Library Summer Reading Club is back.

This summer, take reading as your constant companion and portable pal: take a book to the beach, take a book on your commute, take a book to bed. Every two weeks there will be a new activity offering suggestions in three categories: fiction, non-fiction and an alternative reading or listening format. Break from routine reading and let the activity list stimulate your imagination, your knowledge and your brain.

First up with activity number one: A) Best for the Beach: choose a sizzling new hot author and match your reading temperature to the summer weather. B) Gardener's Delight: bloom where you're planted and dig up a new gardening book. Get dirt under your nails, get sweaty, get growing and get garden happy. C) Get it on-line and go paperless: Check out on-line periodicals and more than 1,700 newspapers on the library databases.

This summer, the library makes it simple to ramp up your reading. Starting July 2 you can register at the library, choose a category from activity number one, select a title, fill in your ballot and enter to win prize draws after each reading activity. Check out the activity suggestions table set up at the library.

Further activity days are July 25 and Aug. 8 with the grand prize draw on Aug. 22.
