The Sunshine Coast Community Services Food Bank in Sechelt is changing operating hours to better serve the community, with an all-day service on Wednesdays.

Beginning Wednesday, June 22, the food bank will switch to an extended all-day service from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., ceasing service on Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The new all-day service offers an opportunity to access the Food Bank without the pressures of a tight timeframe, the worry of long line ups, helping staff and volunteers be more efficient and effective in operations.

“Many things were shaken up over the last few years. This new time frame offers an opportunity to re-imagine and re-orient service delivery, balancing the needs of participants, volunteers, staff and community,” says Chris Hergesheimer, food security lead at Sunshine Coast Community Services.

The Sunshine Coast Food Bank is at 5657 Lamprey Lane, Sechelt and in the last year, has served more than 2,170 unique participants in the community with the help of more than 50 volunteers. If you need food – show up, knock on the door, have a chat with us, and let us help you. Food donations will still be accepted all day Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or you can donate on the website at sccss.ca/get-involved/donate.
