The students of Capilano University’s Health Care Assistant (HCA) program celebrated their successful completion of the program on Thursday, April 13.
The event was held at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Gardens and guests included Julia Denholm, the dean of kálax-ay/the Sunshine Coast Campus of Capilano University, and Carol Tanner, HCA program coordinator, as well as instructors, families and friends.
A total of 17 graduates finished the seven-and-a-half month program.
The HCA program provides skilled workers to support the community’s aging population.
Historically the program has had a rate of 92 per cent graduating students receiving employment within their chosen field.
In order to meet the demand for qualified professionals in this role, Capilano University is currently offering a yearly intake with a new program launching in the fall.
