Pender Harbour & Egmont

The Pender Harbour Choir is set to brighten the season with a little fun and a wonderful collection of delightful music. Join the choir for A Special Time of Year, a celebration of the season featuring festive treats, socializing, and music. Directed by Kenneth Norman Johnson and accompanied by David Poon, the Pender Harbour Choir will delight with familiar favourites and new songs of the season. Festivities start with a reception at 1 p.m., followed by the concert program at 1:30 p.m. The event will be held Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden and Dec. 11 at the Pender Harbour School of Music. Tickets are $20 from choir members, Sechelt Visitor Centre and EarthFair Store.

The annual Christmas sale at the Harbour Gallery continues this Saturday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to new artwork created in 2016, there will be special works reflecting the theme of this year’s show Let It Snow. The artists’ cooperative funds the Ada Priest Memorial Scholarship to a Pender Harbour student studying Fine Arts. The sale will continue Dec. 17.

Seniors Initiatives activities this week: Tuesday Walking, easy-paced exercise program 10:30 a.m., Harbourside Friendship Thursday is Christmas lunch and music by the Christmas Cantata. Tickets must be purchased in advance; contact Marlene at 604-883-9900. The annual Polar Express Xmas Light Tour is Dec. 20. The bus leaves the community hall at 7 p.m. and returns approximately 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 at Harbour Insurance and EarthFair.

Send out local Christ-mas greetings in lieu of cards through the Sunshine Coast Health Care Auxiliary. For your donation, your personal greeting will appear in the Coast Reporter Dec. 23 issue. Dec. 15 is Christmas Bingo at the Community Hall. Please bring a small gift for the gift exchange, an appie to share and a non-perishable item for the Food Bank. Everyone on the Coast is welcome! This will be the last bingo night until mid-February 2017. Thank you to all the players, and a special thanks to Sunny for her eight years of volunteering to keep Bingo Night alive.

The Legion’s Christmas turkey and ham meat draw and pie auction is Saturday Dec. 17. New Year’s Eve dinner and dance tickets are on sale now. Don’t wait, get yours now or you might be disappointed.
