Pender Harbour & Egmont

Come and enjoy the Harbour Gallery summer show of new artwork and stained glass that runs from July 1 to Aug. 31. The gallery, located at 12953 Gonzales Rd. in Madeira Park, will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Seniors Initiative activities this week start Wed-nesday, June 29 with carpet bowling from 1 to 3 p.m. Drop in for $3. Harbourside Friendship on Thursday will be a pre Canada Day party starting at 10:30 a.m. Both events are at the P.H. Community Hall.

The first Friday Madeira Market is on Canada Day, July 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the shady park behind the Community Hall. Each Friday a variety of wonderful local vendors will have their table laden with crafts, delicious edibles and treasures. New vendors are welcome! Tables are $10, with proceeds to the Community Club.

This year the annual Egmont Seafood Dinner is Saturday, July 2. Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. For more information, see www.egmontcommunityclub.webs.com or call 604-883-9652 or 604-883-1379.

As of July 2, the Saturday meat draws at the Madeira Park Legion will commence at 2 p.m. for early birds, 3 p.m. for the main draw, and Pull the Ace at 4 p.m. Sunday’s draws remain the same.

Pender Harbour Days, July 8 to 10, are just two weeks away. All events will take place in the Madeira Park Marina area. This will be a great weekend for the whole family with wooden boat and heritage displays, music and lots of activities for kids. There are two new competitive events this year, an oyster shucking contest and an old-fashioned log sawing/chopping competition (for teams of two). Pender Harbour Advi-sory Council is planning a Community Organi-zations Showcase for Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Hall as part of Pender Harbour Days. This event will give organizations in Pender a chance to connect with the community, explain their programs and solicit new volunteers. On Saturday, July 9, in conjunction with Legion week and Pender Harbour Days, the Legion is offering a package deal of $25 for roast beef dinner and a dance with live music from Playback. This engaging band offers classic rock hits from the ‘60s and ‘70s you can get up and dance to. Dinner only is $17.95, cover charge only for Playback is $10.
