The Halfmoon Bay Branch of Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary will be holding their next meeting on Monday, Oct. 16 (instead of Oct. 9) starting at 9:45 a.m. at Coopers Green. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
The Hospital Auxiliary is also asking anyone who has a surplus of cooking apples that can be used in their fabulous apple pies to get in touch with Martha Ware at 604-885-1043.
Poppa Greg and the Chillin’ Dylans will be playing Oct. 21 at the Boogie, Brats and Beer event that ties in to the AppleFest celebrations. Tickets (includes dinner, dance and beer) are available at Welcome Woods Market and Halfmoon Bay General Store.
The AppleFest committee is looking for up and coming artists who are waiting to be discovered. New for this year, AppleFest is included in the Art Crawl on the Oct. 20 to 22 weekend at Coopers Green Park. This is a great way to display your talents to the community. Pickleball happens at Halfmoon Bay Elementary School every Wednesday at 7 p.m. All levels of play welcome. All equipment is supplied. Cost is $3. First-time players are free.
Russell deCarle, best known as bassist and vocalist for the iconic Canadian band Prairie Oyster, is coming to Halfmoon Bay to perform on Oct. 27. DeCarle is also bringing guitarist Steve Briggs of Powell River along and will have local musicians Joe Stanton and Simon Paradis open for him. Tickets for the concert are $25 at Halfmoon Bay General Store, Welcome Woods Market and Strait Music; they are selling fast.
