Halfmoon Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

This Friday, Aug. 26, Joe Stanton will be playing live music in the Seascape Room, 8 p.m. at Rockwater Secret Cove Resort.

Oct. 22 and 23 is the Apple Festival weekend. Apples are ripening now, so if you have any to share with the big copper kettle, they will be put to good use. Also on the want list is cured maple firewood that goes under the big kettle. Bring apples and firewood to the back door of Dolphin Physio and Fitness, #102 - 5711 Mermaid St., Sechelt. Or call Katie at 604-885-2969 to arrange for pickup.

If you can help make applesauce now, give a call to Katie 604-885-2969. She will be holding work party dates to help process apple butter: Sept. 24 at Sechelt Fall Fair, Oct. 1, 8, 15 and 22. This year they will do most of the work in advance. Apple Festival day is Oct. 23.

Applefest weekend also has the Boogie, Brats and Beer dance at Coopers Green, on the Saturday.

The Travel Ambass-adors (TAs) are looking for new volunteers to assist both visitors and locals with travel information on B.C. Ferries Route #3 Langdale to Horseshoe Bay. The TAs wear distinctive red golf shirts and each year welcome approximately 40,000 visitors. Travel Ambassadors work in pairs and are on the ferry for a shift of four hours once a week. Full orientation is given; anyone wishing to apply can contact Dorothy Fraser at 604-885-7637.

To have your say at the bay, contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at [email protected] or 604-885-5034.
