Oct. 22 and 23 is the Apple Festival weekend. Apples are ripening now, so if you have any to share with the big copper kettle, they will be put to good use. Also on the want list is cured maple firewood that goes under the big kettle. Bring apples and firewood to the back door of Dolphin Physio and Fitness, #102 - 5711 Mermaid St. in Sechelt, or call Katie at 604-885-2969 to arrange for pick up.
If you can help make applesauce now, give a call to Katie. She will hold work party dates to help process apple butter: Sept. 24 at Sechelt Fall Fair, and Oct. 1, 8, 15 and 22. This year they will do most of the work in advance. Apple Festival day is Oct. 23.
Applefest weekend also has the Boogie, Brats and Beer dance at Coopers Green, on the Saturday.
Water meters are coming to Halfmoon Bay. To learn more about the process, there will be a public meeting with the SCRD and Neptune Technology Group, who will be installing the meters. Location: Coopers Green Hall, Aug. 24, 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.
