Halfmoon Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

The Halfmoon Bay Citizens Association is holding its annual general meeting Thursday, Aug. 18 at Coopers Green Hall, 7 to 9 p.m. Gary Little will review the history of the Bay, Gary Nohr, Area B director, will give a Halfmoon Bay update with questions and answers, and Elise Rudland and Mary Beth Knechtel will report on invasive species. Everyone is welcome!

Oct. 22 and 23 is the Apple Festival weekend. Apples are ripening now, so if you have any to share with the big copper kettle, they will be put to good use. Also on the want list is cured maple firewood that goes under the big kettle.

Bring apples and firewood to the back door of Dolphin Physio and Fitness, #102 - 5711 Mermaid St., Sechelt. Or call Katie at 604-885-2969 to arrange for pickup.

Applefest weekend also has the Boogie, Brats and Beer dance at Coopers Green, on the Saturday.

With the boating season in full swing, the HMB Branch of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue would like to promote distress call methods. To report a Marine Emergency: Use channel 16 on marine VHF radio, or #727 (#SAR), or #16 by mobile phone, or 1-800-567-5111 toll-free (Joint Rescue Coordination Centre) by telephone. It is a good idea to copy this information and carry it with you. Be safe on the water

Welcome Wagon will take community information and free gifts to all newcomers to the Sunshine Coast. Welcome Wagon also delivers free information and gifts from local businesses to families with new babies. Please contact Welcome Wagon at [email protected] or call Judith at 604-886-9896 to request your visit.
