Saturday, July 15 is the Ukulele Groove Jam with the Beachcombers Ukulele Group (BUGS). Bring a uke or other instrument and play along, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gumboot Cafe.
Also on Saturday is Texture and Light, a DJ night with Joseph Martin, Sinerise, 9 p.m. at Roberts Creek Legion.
The Roberts Creek annual mandala painting starts Monday, July 17 and runs all week until it’s done (dates may change, depending on weather). The mandala is now in its 20th year! You can help paint a section of the beautiful mandala at Roberts Creek beach and have fun with music, artists and food. Supplies are provided and spots are given on a first come, first served basis.
The Mannafestival mandala celebration takes place on Sunday, July 23, with an opening circle at noon followed by music, performing artists, dancing and firespinning. Craft and food booths are free to set up in the park.
Slow Sundays each week, noon to 4 p.m. in the park behind the library. Participate in an open mike from noon to 2 p.m., then 2 to 3:30 p.m. is a featured performance, this week The Burying Ground has a lively and gritty sound reminiscent of the music of the juke joints and jazz halls of the 1920s and ‘30s.

The library is open on Sundays until 4 p.m. for the summer, so why not take out some slow reading for the rest of the week.
Creative in the Creek is being held this Thursday, July 20 with doors opening at 7 p.m. and showtime from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Gumboot Café, Roberts Creek. Your hosts for this evening are Siobhan Brown and David Roche. Admission is by donation at the door. Creative in the Creek is a supportive and fun space for new and veteran performers to share their creativity.
This month features Eliya with a heartfelt and powerful original tune; Kyra Kaisla’s original folk music and poetry; Robin Singh Chauhan with beautiful original and cover tunes; David Roche’s endlessly funny comedy; a short story by Sarah Tompkins; and Charlotte Wrinch, a Sunshine Coast singer, songwriter and recording artist.
The fabulous RCCA Christmas Craft Fair is now accepting applications from vendors. Confirmed dates are Friday to Sunday, Nov. 24 to 26 at the Roberts Creek Hall and the Masonic Hall next door.
