Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and that means it is time for the 10th annual Gibsons Fall Fair, Oct. 9 and 10 at Quality Farm and Garden on Pratt Road in Gibsons.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and that means it is time for the 10th annual Gibsons Fall Fair, Oct. 9 and 10 at Quality Farm and Garden on Pratt Road in Gibsons.

Quality Farm owners Dave and Betty Wells are kindly hosting this successful community event in the large greenhouse adjacent to the store. If you are a crafter and want to be a part of the fun, space is filling quickly. See more details at www.gibsonsfallfair.org where you can download applications and posters and see pictures from previous events.

Organizers are also looking forward to the kids creative gardening and scarecrow displays. If you are a sunflower or pumpkin gardening specialist, bring your prize specimen down for judging.

The Fall Fair caters to children, so don't leave them out of the fun. Pumpkin, sunflower and scarecrow competitions are fun for all ages. Local schools are also encouraged to participate. Why not challenge another school or class in the scarecrow-making contest?

If you are an entertainer and would like to showcase your talent, please contact the organizers.

"Come out and support this local event that sends 100 per cent of its proceeds back into the community to Sunshine Coast Charities," said co-organizer Jill-Marie Wilson. "To date, more than $10,000 has been donated back to our own community."

From handmade soaps, beautiful pottery and hand-sewn goods, to beautiful quilt displays and fresh baking - need a pie for your Thanksgiving dinner table? - there is something for everyone. Bring your company down and start your Christmas shopping season with the varied and wonderful selections from local Coast artisans.
