Get ready for the fall faire

The Pender Harbour Fall Faire Society, a registered, non-profit group that has hosted a multi-faceted fair in Madeira Park for the past 12 years, is getting ready for the annual Fall Faire next Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Pender Harbour Fall Faire Society, a registered, non-profit group that has hosted a multi-faceted fair in Madeira Park for the past 12 years, is getting ready for the annual Fall Faire next Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The village is transformed into a fun-filled place with boat building, face painting, cookies and pumpkin decorating for the younger set, as well as the harvest exhibition, where you can view entered baking, preserves, fruit and veggies. There are also floral entries and a photo contest with pictures of the Sunshine Coast. If you would like to enter any of the categories, entry forms are available via email at [email protected].

After viewing all the entries, hop on the hayride and go to the community hall to get that special something from local artisans at the craft fair. Catch the hayride again to see the original artwork for sale at Harbour Gallery. Or visit the Reading Room where you can get a free membership for the rest of the year. Come back to the Legion to have lunch, then try your hand at milking Hilda the Harbour Heifer, or guess the weight of the Pender pumpkin. Stay on until 2 p.m. for the awards and raffle draw.

This well-attended event is put on by a handful of volunteers who have been faithfully organizing the Faire for these past years.

These same people are out selling raffle tickets all summer to finance the day. This is a dedicated group, but without more volunteer involvement, this event is in jeopardy.

If you could contribute some of your time, it would be greatly appreciated. Contact Carole Krych for more information at [email protected].
