Christmas elves of St. John’s United Church are scurrying in their kitchens, baking their best Cookie Caper cookies.
This event has become a tradition at St. John’s. Cookies, in clear plastic containers, make welcome hostess gifts and provide you with a lovely assortment for holiday entertaining. Shut-in friends appreciate them as well.
The Cookie Caper is a walk through of many rows of tables laden with trays of delectable cookies. Guests are given a glove and container to choose their own cookies. The sale is from 9 a.m. to noon next Saturday, Dec. 13.
The Caper is particularly appealing to those who would like to have a variety of home baking for Christmas, but don’t have the time to make several different batches of cookies. Perhaps having so many cookies would not be practical for a small household, yet a small selection of high-quality, traditional cookies would be welcome.
Gluten free and cookies with spirits such as rum balls will be on separate tables. Additional cookies are added every hour to ensure a selection throughout the morning.
Proceeds from this fun event go to St. John’s United Church and to the food bank.
