Following the success of Alice in Wonderland (above) and the Shakespearean All the World’s a Stage school tour, Driftwood Theatre School’s Youth Performance Troupe is now gearing up for a new main-stage production of Cinderella.

Driftwood Theatre School is thrilled to launch the 2016-17 season with five drama classes for youth (6 to 18), two new teachers, and a rollicking production of Cinderella to showcase the school’s talented young thespians.

“The wealth of experience in stage, film and TV our instructors bring to the school each year encourages new interest, and with help from our fabulous return students, we have created the go-to destination for youth training in the dramatic arts,” said registrar Sandi McGinnis.

The school has added two new teachers this fall. Renowned local actor and set designer Susan Rule will tickle the fancy of six to nine year olds with the FUNdamentals Tickle Trunk. Professional musician, film and television actor Kevin Crofton’s Acting for the Camera is aimed at students (12 and up) interested in acting in commercials, film and television.

The always popular Discover Drama returns to Gibsons and Roberts Creek with classes for beginners and advanced (nine to 12 years). The celebrated Youth Performance Troupe (11 to 18 years) returns for its third year with a main-stage production of Cinderella. Auditions will be held Saturday Sept. 3.
