Lotus Speech Buddhist Society Canada announces that Changling Rinpoche will once again visit the Sunshine Coast this weekend as part of his 2010 North American Teaching Tour.
Rinpoche will offer a public teaching tonight (Friday) at 7 p.m. at St. Hilda's Anglican Church in Sechelt followed by a weekend long Lojong (mind training) workshop on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. all at St. Hilda's.
The Lojong teachings form profound and effective practices for awakening wisdom and compassion. They teach us to use difficulties to awaken our hearts and give us practical advice for transforming the hardships of life into aids on the path.
The theme of this year's visit is creating happiness within oneself and one's community from a Buddhist perspective. A central tenet of Buddhist philosophy is that real happiness for both individuals and communities arises from caring and compassion for others. Healthy, vibrant communities can only develop when individuals and public programs provide a foundation that rests on such qualities.
At the age of 10, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche recognized Changling Rinpoche as a tulku - a reincarnated master. He is a lineage holder of the Rechung Kagyu, passed down from Milarepa's disciple Rechungpa. He resides at Shechen Monastery in Nepal, founded by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. He is the abbot of the Shechen Shedra and works closely with Rabjam Rinpoche in directing the monastery.
