The provincial government has made significant changes to the BC Societies Act that will come into effect this November, and societies have two years to make the transition.
To help understand the changes, the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation is putting on a workshop on Wednesday, June 8 at the Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club in Roberts Creek. Bryan Millman, a lawyer at Bull Housser in Vancouver with a focus on the law surrounding non-profits, will lead participants through the quagmire and provide advice on the steps to be taken. He will also touch on the benefits of becoming a federally registered charity and how the BC Societies Act is affected by the Canada Revenue Agency rules.
The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to noon and costs $35. Tickets are available at share-there.com or by contacting the Foundation at 604-741-7360 or [email protected]
