An informal group of Coast residents have organized an opportunity to learn about the history and impact of the Canadian Indian residential school system.

This Saturday, April 6 at 7 p.m. at St. Hilda's Anglican Church in Sechelt, there will be a panel presentation with a question and answer period with Sharon Thera the director of Kloshe Tillicum, the Aboriginal Health Research Network for B.C. and the Yukon, based at UBC and the former executive director of the Indian Residential School Survivors Society, as well as, Rev. Dr. Wendy Fletcher, professor of the History of Christianity at the Vancouver School of Theology who is currently writing her most recent monograph in the area of First Nations Education with particular reference to residential schools.

Fletcher will focus on the history and a timeline of the policies and decisions, which created the residential school System. Thera's focus will on the impact of the residential school experience on the First Nations people of Canada.
