A commercial vehicle stranded on the ramp at Earls Cove ferry terminal resulted in delays for passengers travelling north and south via BC Ferries’ route seven between Powell River and the Sechelt Peninsula on July 13.

“Yesterday morning a commercial vehicle got stuck on the ramp at Earls Cove terminal due to a falling tide,” said Deborah Marshall, BC Ferries executive director, public affairs. “The vessel and terminal crew worked together to safely detach the trailer of the vehicle from the tractor in order to dislodge the trailer. A tow company was called to tow the trailer.”

The incident caused more than an hour delay in service, resulting in overloads and delays on both sides of the route.

“We ended up holding the last sailing from Langdale to Horseshoe Bay by 35 minutes,” added Marshall, “to ensure we had all the customers who wanted to connect from the Saltery Bay [Powell River] ferry.
