Acclaimed Uzbeck pianist makes CRS debut

Bezhod Abduraimov is taking the world’s stages by storm.

The brilliant Uzbeck pianist Bezhod Abduraimov makes his eagerly anticipated Coast Recital Society debut at the Raven’s Cry Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 2:30 p.m. This exceptional young artist is taking the world’s stages by storm. Described by The Times as the “master of all he surveys” and with The Washington Post noting to “keep your ear on this one,” Abduraimov’s captivating performances continue to receive international praise. 

Born in 1990 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Abduraimov’s performances combine an immense depth of musicality with phenomenal technique and breath-taking delicacy. 

Past seasons have seen his work with leading orchestras worldwide such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra and Münchner Philharmoniker, and prestigious conductors including Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Manfred Honeck, Lorenzo Viotti, Vasily Petrenko, James Gaffigan, Jakub Hrůša and Vladimir Jurowski. He has recently worked with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony and Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. 

Forthcoming engagements include Orchestre de Paris, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Luzerner Sinfonie-orchester – including a tour to the Tongyeong International Music Festival under Michael Sanderling – English Chamber Orchestra, and St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra with performances in St. Petersburg and Barcelona. He will return to the Verbier and Rheingau festivals, and will give recitals at the Kölner Philharmonie, Festspielhaus, Baden-Baden, and the Vancouver Recital Society. 

Abduraimov’s Coast Recital Society program will include Franz Liszt’s transcription of the Liebestod from Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde; Liszt’s Piano Sonata in B minor; and Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet – Ten Pieces for Piano, Op. 75.
