Grade 6 student Zach duPreez (left) and Grade 7 student Trinity Young of Langdale Elementary School took home prizes for their poetry in the Legion BC/Yukon Command’s 2019-2020 Poster and Literary Contest. Trinity took first place in the intermediate poetry category and Zach took second place for his poem in the junior category. The contest aims to keep the tradition of remembrance alive in youth. Gibsons Legion Branch #109 president Wilma Jones presented certificates and cheques to the students at a presentation in February. “They were very, very good,” said Jones. “I was quite proud.” This is the first time Sunshine Coast students have placed in the category.
