Madeira Park Elementary School held its annual Sports Day on Friday, June 21, and for the second year in a row, students, staff and parent volunteers enjoyed a plant-based buffet with a large variety of healthy foods. The Askipison buffet, meaning medicine from the earth in Michif, was colourful and delicious. Fresh greens, grown and harvested by the students from the school garden (pictured), were a highlight of the feast and accompanied by homemade falafels, potato salad, spring rolls and more. The free meal was provided by MPES PAC with fresh fruits and veggies donated by Madeira Park IGA.
