Two new picnic tables and a bench have been added to the green space behind the Roberts Creek Community Library thanks to a $5,000 grant from the Canada Post Community Foundation.
The Roberts Creek Community Association (RCCA) announced the installation last week.
“This public seating area will be a community treasure for Creekers,” RCCA said in a news release.
“Wood was sourced by RCCA director Scott Avery from BMHC Timber Milling (Bryan Conyers). Expert welding was carried out by Gladwin Trails Farm and Fabrication (Jordan Smith). RCCA president Sarah Bradley and Jordan Smith donated their time to build and install these beautiful creations.”
The volunteer-led association owns and operates the Roberts Creek Hall and community library.
RCCA vice president Karen Spicer said the group was thrilled to have received the support of the Canada Post Community Foundation. “We are confident that the project will result in a green space that is more welcoming to children and youth in the heart of Roberts Creek.”
The Canada Post Community Foundation supports registered charities, school programs or local initiatives that benefit children. It has granted more than $6 million to over 500 community organizations in Canada.
“Through the generosity of our customers, the Canada Post Community Foundation is able to fund important programs in communities across the country every year,” Canada Post said in the release.
