Habitat for Humanity Sunshine Coast is holding a Key Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 24, to welcome three new families to their homes in the Sunshine Coast Village.

Habitat for Humanity is “a non-profit housing organization working with families and communities to build safe, decent and affordable homes,” says their website. Families who are approved for a Habitat home need no down payment, and mortgages are capped at 30 per cent of the family income. In exchange, they are required to contribute “sweat equity” in the form of labour on their home during construction.

Sunshine Coast Village is located at 4465 Sunshine Coast Highway in Wilson Creek. The Key Ceremony runs from 9 a.m. to noon and includes a pancake breakfast provided by the Sechelt Lions Club.
