Coast Car Co-op supporters won big at the transportation raffle draw, held Nov. 5 at Frank West Hall in Elphinstone. Winners were: Anita Couvrette – $350 BC Ferries Experience Card, Larry Koopman – $100 in local public transit tickets, and Marilyn Pederson – $50 Compass Card.

The proceeds from raffle tickets sales allowed the volunteer-run organization to raise $4,730 to contribute to ongoing operations.

“The Coast Car Co-op is particularly grateful for the support of the Sunshine Coast Credit Union and The Co-operators, who joined forces to fund the prizes,” said board president Bruce Devereux, who also thanked the people who purchased tickets. “This raffle gave us the opportunity to meet so many new supporters and engage in meaningful conversations with them about car-sharing.”

To conclude its fundraising season, the Coast Car Co-op is hosting a Burger and Beer night on Thursday, Nov. 22, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the 101 Brewhouse + Distillery in Gibsons. The event will feature music performances from Bonar Harris and Matthew Lovegrove, live and silent auctions, 50/50 draw, networking games, and more.

Tickets cost $30 (including meal, tax and gratuity) and can be purchased at share-there.com or by emailing [email protected]

Coast Car Co-op is the Sunshine Coast’s own car-sharing organization, operating since 2013. It’s a fully member-owned, not-for-profit organization run by a volunteer board of directors. Visit coastcarco-op.ca to find out more.
