There are a number of outdoor events this week for us to enjoy, like EDGES: Sunshine Coast Artists hosting a Summer Garden Art Sale, Sunday, Aug. 2, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., 3227 Crystal Rd. This group of six diverse artists – Frank Coldicotte, Judy McLarty, Diane Miles, Elaine Seepish, Alison Taylor and Odette Venuti – will show their latest work in a beautiful outdoor setting. Bring your bubble and maintain physical distance; masks will be available. Cancelled if it rains.

Garlic. Well-preserved garlic was found in the tomb of Tutankhamun. Because it helps stimulate circulation to sexual organs, it’s good for your sex life (use in moderation). An environmentally benign garlic-derived product is approved in Europe as a nematicide and insecticide for cabbage root fly and red mite in poultry. My brother is among those who worships this bulb and you can join like-minded individuals at the fourth annual Sunshine Coast Garlic Festival Market this Monday, Aug. 3 at the Community Hall, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Also at the Garlic hoedown will be a silent auction of birdhouses! Remember your COVID protocols. Garlic!

With new rules in place for getting out, while still possible and mentally healthy, it will require a bit more planning. The Legion will be selling table groups for their fantastic August lineup. Groups of three to six tickets at a time, so round up your bubble and get in before the 50-seat limit is sold out! Click rclegionevents.com to get your spot! Support these bands and your local to boot! Shows from 4 to 8 p.m.

We are in a difficult time. Our freedom depends on our collective good behaviour. We know what to do but we are tired of doing it so we get sloppy but we can’t afford that right now. Right now we need to be strong together while we spend time slightly apart. Our physical distancing, mask wearing and hand washing needs to be on point; if we give up the fight we will be back to square one. With the good weather comes our need to be out and about, but please, “Bigger Spaces and Fewer Faces”!
