The spectacular festive light shows were over the top as this year’s competitors lit up the Harbour for the annual Polar Express event. The new format bestows fantastic awards to the top six, receiving their own trophy, an outstanding Polar Express Champion sign. The 2020 champions are: JR, Tanya and Richard Massullo, Tess and Sharon Gilchrist, Sheila and Darren Morton, Donna Brown, Joy and Grant Ellert. Congratulations and thank you!

This year’s Pender Harbour Senior Secondary grads are holding their bottle drive this Sunday, Jan. 10. If you have clean, refundable bottles to donate, call 604-741-3345.

The storm season is here and the perfect time to batten down the hatches and settle in with a good book.

The Pender Harbour Reading Centre is open Tuesdays through Saturdays 11 a.m. to 2 pm. Masks required. The Reading Centre received a COVID-19 program grant from the Sunshine Coast Foundation of $694 to help offset extra costs due to the pandemic. The centre appreciates this grant.

The EarthFair Store is open, warm and welcoming with Dale and her team ready to recommend great reads or find the perfect gift or treasure for you and your home. The weather is perfect to start a wind garden with delightful spinning birds for endless enjoyment. Twitter, our very social Anna’s hummingbird, loves to perch on the larger-than-life image of himself as he fiercely defends all the feeders in our yard. EarthFair has feeders too! Open Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 604-883-9006.
