Harbour Highlights

Pender Harbour & Egmont

Every Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the summer, start your weekend shopping at the Madeira Market under the shady trees, behind the PH Community Hall. The offerings are from wonderful local growers, bakers, crafters and artists. Megan, Sun Twist Acres has beautiful free range (and that is a happy understatement) eggs, micro greens and, if you’re lucky, cheese. Homemade bread, yes! Just see Lee. Her partner, well-known, talented and witty artist Ken Waters will be there with his masterpieces (weather permitting). And Lama Lori has beautiful, delicious preserves.

This Friday, Pender Harbour Music Society’s Coffee House proudly presents local performers Robin Atchison and Nelson Giles, Tamara Goble, Ashley Hautala and David J Taylor. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. $10 suggested donation at the door. For more info, call 604-883-9749.

This Saturday, July 14, the Pender Harbour Golf Club will host the first annual Jan Watson Memorial Golf Tournament. Jan, who passed away last September, was a founder of the golf course and devoted countless volunteer hours to its ongoing success for the past 30 years. Proceeds from the event, which now has a full field, will go towards club maintenance.

The Egmont Community  Club’s Annual Seafood Dinner is also Saturday. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., at the Egmont Community Hall. Enjoy a bounty of fish, seafood, chowders, sushi, salads, veggies and dessert, plus a licensed bar.
