PHOTOS: 2020 Prince George Hospice Dream Home Lottery officially opens

There are also two chances to win $150,000

This year’s Prince George Hospice Dream Home is officially open!

Tickets for the 2020 home, which is valued at more than $700,000, are now on sale.

Built by North Nechako Homes and located at 3955 Larisa Ct., this year’s event marks the fourth year the house has been built in the Nechako View Subdivision, and the 10th year for the lottery itself.

However, as the COVID-19 pandemic has altered much of 2020, the Hospice Dream Home will look slightly different.

“This is a different world. COVID has changed a lot of things for us. We are very particular about safety for our team inside and for our customers,” says Executive Director Donna Flood.

Hospice has a COVID-19 safety plan to ensure both the community and staff remain safe, which means only six people will be allowed to tour the house at a time.

The rancher-style home features five bedrooms plus an office, four bathrooms, five brand-new appliances and about 3,390 sq. ft. of spacious modern living.

At $100 each, 10,999 tickets will be sold; the grand prize draw for the Dream Home will take place Dec. 24, 2020.

Not only are there four early bird draws this year but because of COVID-19, there will also be two 50/50 raffles giving the community two chances to walk away with $150,000 in cash for each draw.

“We will now have two 50/50 tickets. Right now with the climate, we are in and the COVID crisis to be able to give two people $150,000 at the end of the draw is amazing. We are really looking for the support of the community to help us provide that game prize,” says Flood, adding that the Hospice Society is relying heavily on the Dream Home Lottery this year.

“COVID has prevented us from having our regular events and fundraising opportunities. Also, our donations are down about 44 per cent so this dream home means a lot to us and this is why we have put in a second 50/50 not only to support us but to allow someone in the community to have an extra $150,00 in their pocket.”

Tickets for the 50/50 are $25 each with the first draw held on Sep. 25 and the second one on Dec. 18.

Both Dream Home and 50/50 will be available for sale at the Dream Home location on 3955 Larisa Court from Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the Prince George Hospice Society Office on 1506 Ferry Avenue from Monday to Friday from (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) as well as Canadian Tire from Thursday to Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

You can also purchase tickets online.
