The Prince George Spruce Kings have added another homegrown talent to the fold.
They’ve signed former Cariboo Cougars U-18 forward Mason Loewen to roster for the 2404-25 B.C. Hockey League season.
“This really means a lot to me, being a fan of the Spruce Kings my entire life to being a part of this great organization,” Lowen said. “It is a huge honour and I am really looking forward to it”
The six-foot, 185-pound native of Charlie Lake, B.C., collected 42 goals and 38 assists for 80 points in 70 games with the Cariboo Cats over the past two seasons. In 36 games this past season he totalled 24 goals and 51 points. He was also a proven playoff performer with six goals and three assists in seven playoff games.
He played in two BCHL playoff games during the first-round series against the Penticton Vees.
“Mason is a great young man who possesses many on ice traits and many intangibles that we look for in players. We’re thrilled to add him to our program.”
On Monday the Kings announced they’ve signed 2007-born defenceman Zachary Hachey.
A six-foot-three, 201-pound native of Saint-Lambert, Que.,, Hachey played the past two seasons with the QM18 triple-A Collège Charles-Lemoyne Riverains.
In 41 games as captain of the team this past season, Hachey scored two goals and hsd 17 assists and also put up three pointsoin six playoff games.
“He's a dynamic young defenseman with good size who does everything well,” said Hawes. “We got to know him and his family well during the recruiting process, and he checks all the boxes with his character as well.”
