Claire Strachan is the Sunshine Coast Skating Club’s Skater of the Month for February. Claire is nine years old and attends Grade 4 at Gibsons Elementary School. Though she says that she loves everything about skating, her favourite things are Y stretches on ice and the backwards spiral. When she is not skating Claire likes to cuddle with her dogs. Professional coaches Lesleigh Farr and Daryl Austman say: “Claire moved to the Coast this year from Elkford and entered our Canskate Program. She quickly progressed to our Junior Academy program. Claire is self motivated, respectful, coachable and has a great work ethic. She skates four days a week and participates in both on-ice and off-ice classes. She participates in fundraising events such as our recent skate-a-thon. Claire shows determination and is a great addition to our skate club.” The club congratulates Claire on all her accomplishments.
