Keenan Flemming, a junior golfer from the Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club (G&CC), has won the BC Golf Zone 4 Junior Championship. He fired rounds of one under par at both University Golf Club and Marine Drive Golf Club last weekend to tie fellow competitor Henry Lei for the lead. On the ensuing playoff hole, Keenan sank a long birdie putt to secure the win.

Ed Lex, the donor of the championship trophy, was on hand at Marine Drive along with Greg Moody, the Zone 4 chairperson, to present Keenan with the trophy. Keenan, a Sechelt resident, is the first golfer from the Sunshine Coast to win this prestigious title.

His stellar play follows his performance in the Sunshine Coast G&CC Pro Am to Benefit Junior Golf where he filled a Professional’s role and led a team of amateurs, finishing second with a score of 69. In doing so, he finished ahead of a strong field of professionals, bowing only to Bryn Parry, the eventual winner.

Keenan will be playing next in the Zone 4 Men’s Championship with the intention of qualifying for the B.C. Men’s and ultimately the Canadian Amateur Championships.
