The 2018 American Quarter Horse Youth World Cup held in College Station/Bryan, Texas is now wrapped up and Canada had quite a show, with two riders from Roberts Creek holding their own in several categories. In the end, Canada tied for second in the overall placings, receiving third place after a tiebreaker out of 19 competing countries.

Mackenzie Inksater placed eighth in the Hunter Under Saddle riding a horse named Definitely Tuned In. Mackenzie also placed fourth in the Horsemanship and was a finalist in the Hunt Seat Equitation riding a horse named Cashin In Guns for show one. For show two Mackenzie placed eighth again in the Hunter Under Saddle on Definitely Tuned In and was a finalist for show two in Horsemanship and Hunt Seat Equitation riding Cashin In Guns.

Ellie Gerbrandt received a Bronze medal in Showmanship leading a horse named Smartest Rooster and was a World Cup Champion in Hunt Seat Equitation on Definitely Tuned In for show one. For show two Ellie was fifth place in Showmanship with Smartest Rooster and sixth place in Hunt Seat Equitation on Definitely Tuned In.

Overall it was an extremely successful and amazing experience for both girls. They met youth from all around the world and created lifelong friendships, particularly with the Australian and South African teams.

Along with competition, Mackenzie and Ellie participated in a host of leadership and team-based events.

Without community support this would have been an impossible endeavour for the two Roberts Creek girls, and they extend their sincerest gratitude to the businesses and individuals who helped make this experience possible.
