With the arrival of spring comes several dry floor sports to Sunshine Coast’s two arenas. Pickleball is already underway in Gibsons, and on May 11 the Sunshine Coast Pickleball Association (SCPA) will host opening day festivities from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Arena in Sechelt.

In addition to social and competitive play on nine courts, SCPA is planning a fun skills competition, a mini dinking tournament, and a paddle (racquet) door prize raffle.

This event is free for SCPA members. Non-members are encouraged to join in the fun at the regular drop-in cost of just $4. Club ambassadors will be on hand to welcome new players of all ages and assist them in learning the basics of the fastest growing sport in the world.

The Sunshine Coast is no exception to the globe’s pickleball tsunami. With over 200 active members, SCPA continues to enjoy a 20 per cent per annum growth rate.
