The Sunshine Coast Skating Club is extremely proud of three competitive stream skaters who attended this past weekend's 2019 Super Series BC/YK Section Championships held in Coquitlam Nov. 8 to 12.
Lucy Watson (Juvenile Women U12), John Mailey (Juvenile Men) and Cooper Jones (Juvenile Men) took part in this year's provincial championship competition, which involved 100s of skaters from all over B.C. and Yukon.
Cooper Jones won the Juvenile Men category, giving him the gold medal and the Bill Nielsen Memorial Juvenile Men Champion Award. He was also the recipient of the Dr. Helmut May Juvenile Men Artistic Award.
Not since 2009 has the Sunshine Coast has had skaters attending the BC Section Championships (due to no year-round training required).
