The War On The Shore 6 amateur boxing event will take place on Saturday, June 1, at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre.

Clubs from as far away as Nelson will be bringing boxers to the event – and they will include several national medalists, making this a strong card, Sunshine Coast Boxing Club (SCBC) founder Rick Shannon said.

The SCBC team, he added, has been hard at work getting ready under the direction of head coach and Lift Strength and Conditioning Centre owner Tariq Abdualrahman to put on strong ring performances in front of their hometown supporters.

Youth lightweight Aidan McKenzie of Roberts Creek will box a North Vancouver opponent, while super heavyweight Theo Kontekakas, bantamweight Angela Cantarutti and middleweight Marcus Davies are all matched with national medalists, a testament to the quality of boxing that will be on display.

Boxers from off-Coast will also be matched in other bouts.

Barry Krangle will once again be the ring announcer for this popular event.

Tickets are available at the door for $30 or call Lift Strength and Conditioning in Wilson Creek at 604-989-2269 for information regarding ticket pre-sale locations and information.

Doors open at 5 p.m., boxing starts at 6.
