Roberts Creek mixed martial artist (MMA) Julia Budd will be defending her Bellator Featherweight World Title against Israeli challenger Olga Rubin on Friday, July 12.

Budd, the current champion, has a 12-2 MMA record. Rubin has a 6-0 MMA record.

Budd, who trains with Gibson Kickboxing in Port Moody, made the switch to MMA after a successful career in Muay Thai. She signed with Bellator, an MMA promotion similar to UFC, in 2014, and in 2017 won the promotion’s inaugural women’s featherweight championship.

The match will be broadcast live on Paramount Network from the WinStar World Casino & Resort in Oklahoma.
