Twelve athletes from Coastal Community CrossFit (C3) made the podium and one athlete placed fourth at the Fraser Valley Throwdown competition in Abbotsford on Nov. 22 to 24.

Hundreds of athletes from across the Pacific Northwest competed in five gruelling events that included weightlifting, powerlifting, medicine ball and kettlebell, rowing, running, skipping, plyometrics, and gymnastics. With names like Body Weight Ninja and GRIT, the events were formidable, challenging athletes in skill, strength and endurance.

C3 athletes were on fire and brought home plenty of medals. CrossFit members competed in the Intermediate Trio Men’s division (Placing #1) the Scaled Trio Women’s division (Placing #1 and #2), the Scaled Trio Men’s division (Placing #2) and the Elite Masters Women’s division (Placing #4). This was the first competition for two of the athletes.

The performance went way beyond coach Milan Fraszczak’s expectations. “These athletes trained all year, while juggling life, jobs, kids, and volunteer work,” Fraszczak said. “They threw their whole heart into this competition and represented our community in the best way possible. We couldn’t be prouder of them.”
