Biathlete finishes with personal bests

Nester’s Biathlon BC Cup

Sunshine Coast biathlete Sasha Qureshi skied fast and shot straight at the Nester’s Biathlon BC Cup in Whistler Jan. 24 and 25, which resulted in two personal bests.

Sasha persevered through tough conditions on Saturday with steady rain and soft packed trails. Sasha raced a 2.1k (3x700m) sprint where he placed 17th with a time of 15:14.0 and 6/10 clean shots in a field of 24 juvenile (11/12 years) mixed athletes.

Sunday ushered in better weather with athletes racing under a partly cloudy sky and wet trail conditions. Sasha hit another personal best in the 2.8km (4x700m) pursuit competition placing 11th with a time of 17:38.8 and 10/15 clean shots in a field of 21 athletes.

Hosted by Whistler Olympic Park and Sea to Sky Nordics, this biathlon race is one of three provincial cups in B.C. for the 2014/15 season.
