Thirst for action

Letters

Editor:

Concerned Sunshine Coast residents should applaud the blunt language in your Oct. 27 editorial, “SCRD disconnect on water unfathomable.”

We want our local governments to proceed carefully in remedying our tap-water supply shortage, especially where there’s any threat to our geographical environment. But this community cannot tolerate more years of SCRD bureaucratic plodding through this crisis.

Even our most fierce environmental watchdog, the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association, agrees that building a reservoir downstream from Chapman Lake is a viable option.

We should demand that the SCRD include a referendum in the November 2018 election on a property tax levy to help build such a reservoir as quickly as possible.
