I think that residents of Sechelt should be very proud about the appearance of our town. One cannot but help notice the very attractive appearance of our streets, parks and public areas. This spring, the massed tulip beds, followed by the flowering shrubs and trees, were particularly impressive by the library, aquatic and visitor centre areas. The cherry trees west of Hackett Park were also very striking. Another recently designed impressive and attractive place is found between the new water treatment plant and the Sechelt Marsh. Actually attractive and interesting shrubs and plants are to be seen on most of the town’s streets.
So congratulations should go to Perry Schmitt, Sechelt parks supervisor, his staff, and all the associated workers from clerks to planters, for a job well done. We need to remind ourselves that this excellent performance has occurred, even in the face of the many recent upheavals of Sechelt’s staff. We see many letters in our newspapers, moaning and groaning about various conditions in Sechelt; however, actually we should be more aware that there are many dedicated and hard-working employees doing a great job making Sechelt a very pleasant place to live. I tip my hat to them.
